Stories from the Salon

Poosy was getting her hair treated today so I decided to come along for the ride and trim my hair. Please take note of the fact that I said *trim*, i.e. I didn't want any bells and whistles with my hair.

Now, the funny thing is that we went back to the place
where I got my last haircut. Oddly enough, I also got the same girl who cut it last time. So I said to her that I wanted my hair cut the same way as it was last time - layers in the back, fringe at eyebrow level. And again, she didn't listen to what I told her.

This is how my fringe ended up.
Now, if I look perplexed, it's because my fringe is actually W-A-A-A-Y over my eyebrows. This photo is somewhat misleading because I went to dinner after this and my friends, especially Nance, went *WHOA!!! Your fringe is short!*

But this front-on shot doesn't reveal why I think that hairdresser is mocking me. This my hair from the back. And Poosy can vouch for me that I have not altered my hair in any way.
I don't know which part of trim made the girl decide I wanted my hair to be curled and horizontally braided with a rosette kind of formation to hold it in place. I had no idea what on earth she was doing and why. I desperately tried to make eye contact with Poos who studiously avoided looking at me. She said she couldn't because if she did, she would have cracked up laughing. People at dinner said it looked good though, as if I'd made an effort to make myself nice for them.

I suppose this is what I get for going to a salon where I know they never listen to what I say. Apart from the length of the fringe, I guess the cut was what I wanted.

Guess the Location!

What does the above photo depict? Let's break it down into its components.

The picture depicts an alley in which a crowd of somewhat fashionably dressed young people seem to be congregating/queueing up outside a door. The alley is very dingy - the windows have bars and there is visible graffiti. It's nighttime and there is a deal of fluorescent lighting. A logical thought would be that this is an exclusive nightclub at 11pm.

Well, you're wrong.

This was the dinner queue at 8pm outside a famous (infamous?) dumpling shop in the city. It's become so popular that people were queueing up to get in. When Lydia, Jenny, Ernie and I turned into the alley and found this queue, we all remarked that it looked like the queue at a club, so I naturally had to take a photo.

Update!

I'd also just like to report that it's Friday and Baomanda STILL hasn't updated her blog...the slacker!

Non parlo bene italiano

Miss Soooleeeeeng and I have been taking italian lessons throughout the semester. The level of our language comprehension is debatable but I think our enjoyment levels are quite high. Each class goes for two hours (even though I'm usually late) with a break between the hours for italian-ish food to keep our energy levels up.

Every afternoon before class, we send each other the same IMs....
*Are you going to class tonight?*
*Man, I soooo don't feel like going*
*Argh, ok, I'll go*
*Was there homework?*
*Have you done the homework?*
*I'm not gonna do the homework* etc.
Regardless we always seem to turn up (well, apart from a few lessons early in the course), and we rarely do our homework although I do it with greater frequency than Soooleeeeng who never does it.

So what have I learnt after several weeks and $300 worth of lessons?
*Ciao!*
*Come ti chiami? Mi chiamo Alice*
*Dov'e la chiesa dei Frari?*
*Eccolo/Eccola!*
*Boh?!*
*Non c'e!*
*Giovedi, faccio pilates*
*Domenica, io faccio una torta, lunedi, noi mangiamo la torta*
*A che ora parte il treno? Il treno parte a mezzogiorno*

I don't know if we'll continue the lessons due to increasing demands on our time, but even though it looks like I only learn one sentence a week, the classes have been totally worth it!

Hayfever season

The hayfever season has barely started and already I'm dying in clouds of sneezes and waves of nasal mucus. An even worse development that I noticed yesterday was that my eyes and lips are also developing symptoms - itchy redness. BAH!

My main counter-attack to my biological dysfunction (it's not called Hypersensitivity Type I for nothing!) has been the use of oral tablet antihistamines. However, the tablets this season seem to have limited effectivness - the mucus is decreased but it's still there! So the skin around my nose is raw from being wiped by tissues, and my lips and eyes are red and peeling from the immune attack.

*sigh*
I'm gonna have to live in a world of eternal winters soon :(

Baomanda's *Courtesy Email*

Just in case anyone who reads this has been wondering about the message posted by Thaomanda, I'm posting her email requesting that I and the blogging population of The Circle increase our blog output.
Yo peoples,
Update your blogs already! I need some excitement in my life, and right now, it's via your blogs!!!!! There hasn't been much bloggin action of late, only 1 post each from alice and kaho in the last few days! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
I've already warned some bloggers, but for others, you better have updated your blogs by tomorrow morning when i turn on my computer (lucky for you i wake up around midday).
You have been warned. Next time it won't be a courtesy reminder.
Love, waiting in anticipation.

But you know what? It was incredibly effective! I believe that in the last day, Poosy, Peishapan, Kat(i)e, Kahuna, and myself have all posted Oddly enough though, BAO HASN'T UPDATED HER BLOG SINCE LAST FRIDAY!!

Why hasnt Bao updated her blog? I check her page in anticipation everytime I log in to see what joys of daytime TV she's been watching while at home *studying* for CA. TV that I can't watch cos I'm sequestered at uni wracking my brains doing research work and trying to decide what to write for my blog! I mean, she could totally give me a run through of Oprah's topic of the day, or what food gets whipped up on Ready, Steady, Cook!. But no. All I get instead if nothing except angry emails. *sniff.* I TRIED BAO!!! I made cookies on Sunday, cookies that no one in the house eats cos we all seem to be on diets, cookies so I'd have something to write about on my blog to entertain you, Bao!!! But what do I get in return? I get that same old entry about Moana finally abandoning his fake blog
and joining the ranks of people sucked in by Blogger.com

Take that Bao!!! I'll be expecting a blog soon...or there will be punishment!

Shoes, glorious shoes!

This post is for the benefit of Miss Pooky who wanted to see a picture of my new shoes, and Baomanda who was demanding more blog entries.

Poosy has not blogged for the last week because she ran away for taste sensations and general helpfulness. One of the helpful things she did was buy a pair of shoes for me!Aint they cute? Black leather kitten-heeled pumps - with the intention that I stop stealing hers and cease my whining when she trots around the country.

The Great Lemon-Poppyseed Shortbread Experiment

Last year, I experimented with macadamia shortbread. Yesterday, I felt like making shortbread again, but instead of using the old tried and true recipe, I decided to fiddle with it again by adding lemon and poppyseeds.

Despite adding the rind of one whole lemon, I found that the lemon flavour wasn't spread evenly throughout the cookies. Some tasted almost lemon-free, the bastards! So I'm thinking there are a few ways to solve this conundrum.

1. Stir in the rind when I'm creaming the sugar into the butter
2. Use more lemon rind
3. Use more lemon essence.

But in other news, one tablespoon of poppyseeds seem to be enough!

Recovery-induced lazy days

I must say, one of the good things about being sick-ish (I can feel myself getting better! - One week rule always works!) is that any desire to be lazy is totally justified.

But having said that, I still made myself do the laundry, mop the floor, go the market, and make chicken corn scratch soup (for further recovery) between the hours of 10am-5pm.

The Joy of Being Predictable

I think I've mentioned here many times that I'm computer-retarded. A flow-on effect of this retardedness is that I tend to go to the same computer shop because as soon as I got something cheap there, I cbb searching for somewhere to get it cheaper somewhere else. This has turned out to be something of a silver lining because I've ended up there often enough that the shopguys are beginning to recognise me. Today, I decided that I needed a mouse to go with my toshi, and when I walked into the shop and told them what I wanted (brand, budget, etc) as I went to go pay, the head shopguy said "Hey, it's Mally!" and proceeded to give me a 14% discount. Yay!

And also, it's Thursday and I'm not better yet, dammit.

Feeling poorly

Today I had to leave uni early cos I wasn't feeling fantastic and went home and slept for four hours. Right now I'm lying in bed with toshi because after I woke up, I felt sore all over and the thought of sitting at my desk...*shudder*. This general soreness, fatigue and lack of fever makes me think that I've got some kind of viral infection. I've also been coughing up coloured sputum so that means I've also got some kind of upper respiratory bacterial infection.

Being sick sucks.
The sole bright point is that I think I started feeling shit around Friday or Saturday... if this is what
I think it is, it'll need a few days rest and it should be gone by Thursday. *fingers crossed*

Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3)

I've always been aware that bicarb is a somewhat wonderful chemical. I have regularly used it at home for cooking cakes and biscuits, and also as a moisture/odour absorber in the kitchen. I am also aware that some people use it as a toothpaste and antacid, although I am not one of those people. Lately however, my uses for bicarb have become more numerous. After advising Marlene to use bicarb to get rid of the mouldy smell in her closet, I began to notice that the water wasn't draining properly out of out shower, and remembering my advice to her as well as my work in the Laboratory of Death, I poured some of the stuff down the drain followed by lashings of hot water and ta-da! it started draining again.

Yesterday though took my love of bicarb to another level. I was cleaning out the shower with my trusty Domestos. I stand by my assessment that that is the best general cleaner on the market. One of the problems though is that while it cleans beautifully, the viscosity of the solution means that you can often end up with areas on the cubicle glass that's doesn't end up as clean as the original pouring point. I was contemplated this problem while I was pouring more bicarb around the drain when I suddenly got the bright idea to use the bicarb to clean the glass.
Standing up, I poured an amount of powder into my hand and then scrubbed it straight onto the glass. Imagine my joy when the powder washed off and the glass was almost beautifully clear! And the realisation that I had a cleaner that wouldn't get me high on fumes!!!

So bicarb, I tip my hat to you as a great all round chemical.

Ok, that satisfied my geeky desires for the week.

Movie review - The Devil Wears Prada

Pooey, baomanda and I decided to take a night off and watch a movie that totally appealed to each of our fashion desires.

TDWP follows college-grad and journalist wannabe Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) as she works as a personal assistant for the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep at her imperious best!). Andy initially takes the job even though she's not particularly interested in fashion, but after being informed that spending a year as Miranda's assistant would open numerous doors within publishing for her, she spends her days and nights and dignity trying to keep up with Miranda's demands. The moral of the story is really that one shouldn't sacrifice their friends, family and self-respect in order to keep a job if it means becoming like someone you hate.

But you wanna know what message we three got? Stuff that!!! I'll take the clothes and shoes!!!!

The transformation of Andy BJC (before Jimmy Choos) to Andy PFM (post-fashion makeover)...it's wonderful! Before...she was wearing cable-knit jumpers that made her look 5kg heavier than what she was and completely hid her lovely figure.
This was a great movie for clothes. I read on the TDWP wiki entry that Chanel asked to costume the Andy character...and *sigh* they did a great job of it. Check out this white coat ensemble on the right! Brilliant!!! I can't find a photo of it, but my favourite outfit of hers in the movie was a black leather bustier/pencil skirt outfit with furry accessories that Andy wears in Paris. *le sigh*

Acting....well, Meryl Streep always does a good job. Actually, she does a fantastic job of making Miranda a well nuanced
uber-bitch with only a few words of excellent diction, but also complex. Miranda is the bitch she is to keep her position in the fashion world. Anne Hathaway spends most of the time looking wide-eyed, the development of Andy as a character is not so much seen via her acting, its the work of the costume and make up department. As I said before, her clothes have a dramatic makeover, but what also happens is that as Andy becomes more confident of her position, her makeup changes from being natural to great lashings of bright red lipstick, pale foundation and liquid eyeliner (left). It looks fantastic.

I haven't read the book so I can't comment on how they compare, but if you want a movie with great fashion, have loads of fun.
6-7/10
(For those wanting to know what I thought of the book, the review is here.)

Don't you think there's more to life than being really really really, ridiculously good looking?

Woah!!! Who recognised the quote that forms my post title? If you said Zoolander, ten points! But how is this relevant to my post?

Today, I discovered The Model Home Project. This is an initiative whereby male models from NYC go to New Orleans to rebuild houses destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

And they looked mighty damn fine while doing that.
(I'm sorry. I just can't look at these photos without thinking of Zoolander.)

This plan is brilliant on two fronts. Not only does it take advantage of all the exercise I'm sure models do to keep in shape, it also brings joy to half the pop. of New Orleans! Sheer genius.

And brought to you by the wonderful folk at Armani!

Because The Circle is slowly moving overseas (although they appear to just be migrating to London), various members have started up blogs to keep in touch with each other. I've added links to their places under the *links* section, naturally, but they're also linked below.

HBO - Rome

I've heard good reports of this show when it aired in the US and UK last year. Unforch, it took aaaaaaaaaaages for it to come here, but after watching the first episode last week, I totally believed the wait to be worth it and started to look for people to convince to download it.

After watching tonight's ep...I was horrified ot hear the voiceover say it would be the last episode *for the time being*.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great, it's probably going to go off and either be played at some god-forsaken time like 12am or worse, never, while brainless crap gets played instead.

The Old Me

I can't remember why, but I was talking to Miss Pooky and somewhere along the line, I mentioned that in March 1986 I was 100cm tall (yes, exactly 1 metre!) and weighed 14kg. She couldn't see in her mind how small that could possibly be, so I offered to show her evidence.

I don't know what year this is from (maybe 3yo?), but it shows me wearing my former favourite dress.
I took this photo about 20 minutes ago. Yes, I still own that dress, I said it was my favourite! From collar to hem, it is 55.5cm in length. Lets say the combined length of my little legs and head in that photo is 30cm...I'm only 86cm tall in that photo!

ACB gets drunk

During semester, we generally have a seminar on Friday afternoons. After the seminar, we generally have after-seminar drinks and food...possibly as a bribe to make sure we stay around for the seminar. Regardless, this is usually taken as an opportunity for some of the younger members (such as myself) to booze up everyweek.

This week however, we didn't have a seminar and thus no organised drinks. "No worries!" some of us cried, "We'll just go to where the drinks are!" And so after cracking open a bottle of vodka in the Batcave, we staggered down to Bedford...which is where these photos come in.

Me and Marlene get cuddly

Adey and Nadia.

Ash and Jess.

Nadia gives Turdy a massage.

Marlene tries to get in on the act!

While in conversation with Turdy, John IT punches me in the head.

Even ACB offspring aren't immune to the lure of the pub!

Turdy hits the couch.

Adey and John IT are transfixed by Jewel's Intuition music video.

After Bedford, the more hardcore of us ambled down to Queensberry for even more drinking, this time spiced up with dancing and AFL preliminary finals.

Happy holidays?

One of the great things about working for the university is that you get to live a half-life existence. It's a bit like being in the *real* world (9-5, 5 days a week) while also maintaining that veneer of being a student (flexibility of being able to come and go).

But one of the good/bad things are the term holidays. Its great because there are no students around to clog up the hallways, demanding attention etc...but its also bad because they'll do something like wish my happy holidays...only for me to tell them I dont get one and them going...*ohhhhhh*. It really throws the half-life into relief.

No matter. No students for the next week!

More ball photos

I just want to add that I've also posted Marlene's and Krijn's photos to my album.
Alas, still nothing incriminating.

http://mallymoodlespics.shutterfly.com/ (p/word - 12345)

Alas, no data

Believe it or not (cos I know many won't) I have been working quite hard in the lab for the last few weeks. Problem is unforch, I'm doing stuff like counting cells or taking photographs that don't compress well and hence can't be posted here.

But I am working.

Really.

Dentist vs. Architect

Yesterday after the Ball, I went to a BBQ to recover as well as wish some friends bon voyage (they're heading to Londres indefinitely - see Poosy's blog for their identity). Naturally, with any aggregation of people with higher degrees, we started doing stupid things. It started off with arm-wrestling until two guys dependent on their hands for their livelihood decided to challenge each other to a match of Slap Hands.

So who won? The steady dental hands of Dr. Wong or the arty ones of Damo the Architect? Check out this photo and decide for yourself.
I really wish my camera wasn't low on battery so I could have posted a video on youtube.

The 2006 Postgraduate Ball

Wow! I'm getting old!!! I attended this ball and it's completely stuffed up my sleeping pattern!

Naturally as La Presidente, I had to make sure ACB g
ave good showing so I managed to recruit Ash, Adey, Turdy, Marlena, The Rees lab, Blue, Becstar and Maverick. The event was at the Museum so that naturally appealed to us, or at least me as seen in this photo below! The theme was 80s and so we saw a lot of people there dressed in their best lycra, frills (my dress was cooed over in the loos for being a *raa-raa*) and crimped hair. The guys however, liked to take it to another level by wearing revolting skinny jeans, snakeskin and lots of mullets. Below are Ash doing his best/worst Shane Warne (euw!) and Ronnie...whose mullet actually looked surprisingly realistic.
There were also some more creative people who wore costumes of 80s characters. Some of the best were the Ghostbusters...
(These guys actually did the strut when their song was played, but I didnt get a photo of it)
Super Mario + Maverick from Top Gun...
and these Smurfs getting smurfy.
If someone had a bad time, they didn't have the nerve to tell me, so I can declare a good time was had by all!
Lydia and I swung around her place to change our killer heels for less painful shoes and then we all hied off to Velour for the afterparty for more hijinks.

More photos can be seen at http://mallymoodlespics.shutterfly.com/ (p/word = 12345)

Macbeth 2006

I'm not a brilliant Shakespeare scholar or anything, but I do tend to enjoy it whenever I manage to catch it either on TV/movies/theatre. And while I know some people hate it when the plays are adapted to modern setting while retaining the Shakespearean language (e.g. Baz Luhmann's Romeo and Juliet), I've never really had a problem with it so long as the adaptation essentially retains the meaning of the text and situation.

Having said that, this version of Macbeth will be coming out soon.

It has been transplanted from a battle for supremacy in mediaeval Scotland to the Melbourne criminal underworld from the first half of this decade. I think it's an interesting concept. But what makes it even better is that I have free tickets.

Anyone up for it?

Quiet weekend at home part two

Today I went ball dress shopping with Kirsty. (I'll post photos of what I bought soon - stupid me left my camera at uni!) I'm tired now, so I'm going to spend the rest of the day at home...possibly watching TopGear.

After starting off on Lygon where I tried on a 50s-style strapless black ruffled dress, Kirsty
tried on a magenta grecian-style gown. We both liked our dresses, but had enough misgivings (me about the style, she about the colour and cut) that we called Ash as an emergency third option and went to lunch. We decided to head into the city where we would meet with increased options. Kirsty was adamant she wanted a black dress while I was pretty sure I wanted a red one, and after working our way through a number of stores looking for black grecian and red strapless gowns...we ended up at the first stores we went to and buying the first dresses we tried on. Ah well. I also bought these shoes from Ninewest - they were too cute to pass up and matched the dress!

I guess I'll just have to not buy any new clothes for the summer.

How I Met Your Mother

As a kid, I used to love Thursday nights. They heralded the beginning of the end of the week, my weekly acting classes, and lots of TV shows I didn't really understand at the time but laughed at nonetheless. Well the first and the last points still stand! It used to be that I'd watch stuff like Las Vegas (don't laugh! It's a highly enjoyable show!) and The Amazing Race. Those however are now off the air and the sit-com double-team that's got my attention now are How I Met Your Mother and My Name is Earl. I won't wax lyrical on Earl simply because so many other people already have.

How I Met Your Mother features five twenty-somethings living in NYC, main guy Ted (Josh Radnor), his best friends Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan - Willow!), another friend Barney (Neil Patrick Harris - Doogie Howser!), and the girl that Ted is infatuated with, Robin (Cobie Smulders). An explanation of the plot is here.

Part of the reason I like this show is it's similarity to The Wonder Years - each episode features narration from Future-Ted (Bob Saget). While as a kid I could laugh along with the tribulations of Kevin Arnold despite the fact I'm obviously not a boy growing up in the '60s, now that I'm in the same age frame and point in life, I can really sympathi
se with Ted! Not in the frantic *must find someone to settle with* way he has, but in the *20s are coming to an end, time to get a bit serious with what I want in life*. I suppose it helps that Radnor is kinda cute in that clueless way.

Some reviews I read of Mother said that the humour seemed strained, but I disagree. The jokes and situations the characters find themselves in are still similar to me - trying to decide if you're too old to go clubbing and if you should start finding *mature* entertainment, blowing off studying for exams to go drive somewhere, the perils of dating and where to find single people, the effects of too much alcohol...etc. Because the situations are ones where I can identify with, so too the humour seems totally normal BECAUSE IT'S TRUE! Ok, maybe not the time that Barney spends the entire night dirty dancing with a girl in a club only to find its his cousin - EUW!
While it's not brilliant the way Earl or Supernatural is, I think Mother is one of the better shows to have come out this year. And I know when Ted finds the right girl, she's gonna be awesome. ;)

Final face

So yesterday afternoon, Nance and I trundled down to the city for the competition.
So below is a photo of me with my *new* face and Marlene...except she requested that her face not be posted online.

And here is a photo of me front on. I think she did quite well. I mean , I still looked like myself, although what is not captured in these photos (god I'm unphotogenic) was the fact that I looked like a doll. All in all, it was quite fun and Nance has agreed to do my face for the ball. Yay!

Spreading sweet-sweetness

I love food. I love cooking. And of my favourite cooking *technique*, I love baking.

I've been practicing for a while now for the annual ACB bake-off, my entry day of which is Sept 11 (nice and easy to remember). This year's criteria is *herbs or spices* so I've been making an apple-crumble cake. Each time I've made it, I've tried to modify it to increase the bits that people like best (the crumble top) and to correct for my crappy home oven (I think I might just have to use someone else's). And because I've been practicing, my lab and various other people in the dept. have been happily hoeing into variations of my apple cake, which then brings me to this...

I love it when people enjoy food. I love when people acknowledge a good dish. And I love how a good meal can spread a sheen of cheer over a crowd of people.

In these crazy diet-fuelled times, people may curse me for giving them things loaded in butter and sugar but deep inside, you know you love it all too.

Make up comp with Nance

Nancyti has decided to enter a makeup competition with me as her model face. We're entering the *natural look* category and have decided that pinks are the way to go.
Looks pretty natural - looks like I'm not wearing make up at all!

Those freesias

In all their yellow glory. Unforch they are dead now. Easy come, easy go.

Movie review - Snakes on a Plane

Holy shit, people, THIS MOVIE ROCKED!!! No, I'm being serious - I REALLY enjoyed this movie! All you need to do to enjoy this movie is go in with the right mindset, and like me, you'll be howling with laughter the entire time.

You don't really need more explanation of the plot than what's in the title, but just in case anyone was wondering how those snakes got on that plane...after witnessing a gangster kill a prosecutor, Sean Jones (Nathan Phillips) is in the witness protection program and is being transported from Hawaii to LA. The agent who has been charged with looking after him is Neville Flynn (Samuel L. Jackson). The gangster decides that the best way to eliminate the witness is therefore to put lots of snakes on that plane...and the story writes itself!

Okay, anyone walking into this movie expecting anything more than 1.5 hours of complete dumbass fun...man, you deserve to feel ripped off. Anyone who wants to see a move where Sam Jackson does a lot of yelling, makes crazy eyes, and kicks the shit out of a bunch of snakes...THIS IS IT. He makes this movie!!! And it's full of Sam Jackson-esque quotes delivered Sam Jackson style!
"
Do as I say and you'll live! "
"Great, snakes on crack."

(When Sean complains that it's getting hot on the plane) "I'm from Tennessee, I didn't notice! "
(After pulling out his gun) "We're about to open some fucking windows"
And the absolute clincher -
"Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane!"
Not only was this movie full of fun and disgusting ways for snakes to kill people (snakes on a nipple, snakes on a penis, snakes in the eye, swallowed by an anaconda...) it also has fun ways for people to kill snakes! I thought it was damn hilarious that while everyone was freaking out, Sam Jackson just picks up and throws the first snake he sees!

This is a wonderfully crappy movie that thrives in its crappiness. There are all the cliched characters with all their cliched plot sections - the stewardess on her last flight, the sexist pilot, the campy steward, the fat woman, the snotty brit, the rich princess with the chihuahua, the boy who's meant to look after his little whiny brother, the kickboxer, the hip-hop star and his entourage, the newly married couple...all brought together and under the command of the badassmotherf@#$er FBI agent after some snakes take over their plane.

If you're in need of some cheering up and wanna do some public hooting, see this movie. Sit back and enjoy the pure-B gradedness of the whole thing and you'll walk out satisfied.
8/10

As an extra, here's a complete walkthrough of the movie if you want to *prepare* yourself.

Freesias

The organic shop where I buy stuff to put in my sandwiches was having a sale on freesias ($4/bunch?! That's like wholesale price!) so I bought two bunches to put on my desk. I can't wait for them to open up and that spicy/sweet smell of theirs gets released. I'll post a photo of them soon.

Man, it's times like these when I'm fiddling with flowers that I think I miss working at the florist.

Then I remember all the shit I went through and say *Nah!*

Unwritten law

I'm sure I would have ranted at some point in time about the unwritten laws that stop our society from falling apart at the seams. Stuff like *stand on the left, walk on the right of the escalator*, you know, seemingly trivial stuff, that upon thought, are actually quite handy.

I do like to adhere to these rules and chunder angrily when others don't, although having said that I was in a quandary when I was driving on a very busy road and the car in front of me broke down. I was looking to change lanes while the guy got out of his car and started to push. I considered whether I too should have gotten out to help him push his car out of the way when someone from the queue of cars behind me got out and helped push, while I happily drove off.

This got me thinking, as the first person in the line behind the guy, should I have been the one to help him push his car? As I was the first one to see him break down, I should have been the one to help push, or at least steer, in order to decrease the line. However, my brother says that as a girl I am exempt from all parts of this rule.

What does everyone else think?

A Ball with No Booze

For my regular readers (funny, I just thought I heard a pin drop!), you all know that Friday is my weekly booze day whereby I drink to forget the week that I've had and to celebrate a weekend where I don't have to do any work.

This past Friday began when I headed off to Bedford with m
y fellow Friday drinkers, having passed on the normal Dept. drinks to doll/slut (the difference is dependent on perspective) myself up for a ball that I'd be attending later that night. Good ol' Bedford happened to be on happy hour, so I decided to drink up in the hour that I was there, sinking a vodka lemon lime, vodka cran (that happened to have 1.5 shots in it), and a g & t. I was a bit worried that 3.5 drinks in the space of an 1.5 hours might have been a bit much, but I didn't feel particularly out of it as I tripped on over in my Paris shoes to where the ball was located.

Normally, when I attend a ball, I don't expect the alcohol to run free, that's just crazy talk, but I do expect wine to be available. None of that was available at this ball. While I don't think I was devastated to realise that, a supply of alcohol may have put me in a more charitable mood towards the keynote speak who lectured us about pov
erty. At least the quality of the food was really quite good (perhaps best I've ever had at a ball), and that stopped me from getting into too much mischief. However, there was a silver lining to this tale of woe. I met up with Poosy and co. at Manchuria (above), to find that she was three sheets to the wind and that I'd have to drive us home. One meal at Stalactites later, and the night didn't seem so bad after all.

I have superpowers

Pracs have started up again (yay! easy cash!) and I'm reminded that all the time I've spent at uni hasn't been such a waste of time. At the very least, I can say that I know how to use a microscope correctly, something some medical students may never do.

This week I've had to supervise two "Focus on the Microscope" sessions whereby the students are taught to use them. Unfortunately due to time constraints, the instructions on how to use the microscopes are run through pretty quickly. Half the time, I end up just focusing the thing for them so that they don't fall too far behind. My doing this lead to a funny moment in this morning's prac as I answered a bunch of hands saying that they couldn't see anything down the objective. I then went through the machines and quickly focused for them. As I walked away, I heard someone mutter "Holy shit, how did she do that?!" in incredulous tones.

I imagine this is how Batman must feel.

Movie review - Miami Vice

Movie versions of hit TV shows are generally hit-or-miss. For every Charlie's Angels (I don't care what you say, that movie was highly entertaining!) there's a The Flintstones. So how does Miami Vice stack up? Is it a Starsky and Hutch or a Dukes of Hazzard? Icey told me as we were going that he thought I was going to rip this movie to shreds, but I was fully prepared to give it a fair go - after all, I did give Underworld: Evolution a six out of 10 (well, 3/5).

Miami Vice
is based on the 1980s series of the same name. Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs (Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, respectively), are the leaders of a crack team of Vice squad cops in Miami
(natch). While in the middle of some kind of porno bust, they get a call from a former informant, who tells them that an FBI/FDA bust of a drug-smuggling ring is about to go pear-shaped because, after the informant's family got threatened, he spilled all the info he knew...except for their squad. And so Crockett and Tubbs go undercover and are drawn into a world of Colombian drug rings.

Or at least that's what I think the movie was about.

Not to sound conceited or anything, but enough people have told me that I'm rather intelligent for me to think that they may be right. But I wasn't alone in my confusion at what was going on and I went with a bunch of people who averaged two university degrees. In fact, during the movie, Poosy the optom leaned over to me and said "Mally, you're a smart girl. What's goi
ng on?" but brainy or not, for the first...ooh, lets say hour...I had no idea and I honestly had to reply, "I have no idea." The reason for the lack of coherence mainly stems from the movie's attempt at authenticity. The initial club scene, yeah it looks like a club and it sounds like a club...but like a club that's playing really loud music, and I can understand that the informant is suitably stressed-out, but I couldn't understand what the characters were saying and therefore had no idea what the relevence of the scene to the rest of the movie was until a while later.

The *problem* of authenticity extends to the acting. Foxx and Farrell seem to be ok in their acting...not that I can tell because the entire script appears to have been written in South Florida/Latino cop-drug jargon, which being a nice girl from Melbourne, I obviously don't speak.
I mean sure, Farrell's accent varies from Deep South to generic American to something unidentifiable, but that made no difference because I didn't know what he was saying anyway. Gong Li, geez I'd forgive Gong Li (left) a lot of things, but what the hell kind of accent was she doing? I understand that there's going to be difficulty because she's a native Mandarin speaker doing English, but Memoirs of a Geisha proved that she could speak the language coherently if kind of heavily accented. But it sounded like she was doing a Chinese-English-Spanish mix. This may have been explained by a scene when she and Farrell go to Cuba and she shows him a photo of her mother and some Latin-looking people and mentions something about Angola (Angola, Africa???) and an establishing shot of a Chinese guy (who looked like John So!) drinking coffee with a Cuban.

On that note, lets look at the cinematography. Like Michael Mann's last movie Collateral, Miami Vice is shot in a mixture of HD digital and that kind of grainy film they use on Cops, so I
guess it looks real...but cuts are quick and many scenes are short and unexplained until later in the film. This contributed to the feeling of confusion enough for Icey to lean over to me and Poosy to declare early on that "This movie is shit." There's also a strange bit where it appears that the same sex scene occurs...but with different characters going at it. Really, it was seriously identical shower sex! Having said that, the visuals are quite beautiful in a purely aesthetic sense. And when the violence finally kicks in, it's done wonderfully.

The violence would probably be the sole factor which stops me from giving Vice a score of 1/10.
Judging from the trailers, I was expecting a gun-fest. The reality was that other than a teasing shootout in the first 10 minutes, there was nothing for the bulk of the movie until the last 20 when it gets awesome! There's a brilliant bit when the blonde female of the squad (if we were told her name, I didn't hear it) tells a piece of white trash how she's going to shoot him in the medulla...and then does so. There's a cloud of red expanding on the wall behind him before he just collapses - awesome! I was going to post the youtube clip of it, but couldn't find one. The last shootout between the Vice squad and the Drug Team is also great as they get out their guns (such as the Benelli M4 Super 90 12-gauge shotgun, used by Jamie Foxx - above) and get to ass-kicking. The only other good things I can think of are the go-fast boats used in the drug-running (they look fun to ride in), and the cars...although how a cop manages to afford a Ferrari Spider (left) beats me.

Poosy has also requested that I make a comment on how Colin Farrell's hair (and styling in general) was really annoying.

Final verdict? Kudos for attempting authenticity, but it just takes itself too seriously. Stick to gunfights.
2-3/10 (and I've been told that this is a generous score)

OUCH!!!

I played squash today for the first time ever with the girls of the Physiol Bornstein Lab. According to them, I improved a lot in that one session, becoming less timid with my shots. It was good to get my racquet arm swinging again after so many years away from playing something like that, but despite my years of gym work and swimming and pilates... the muscles in my ass are killing me! All that bending and stretching and what not doing exercises where I have to run and then stop and then change direction really quickly....yeouch! They totally worked my muscles in ways that they haven't worked in ages!

Oh well, this is just gonna make me work harder!
Miami Vice review coming soon!

Alert to Miss Pooky!

I miss you too!!! One of us needs to go the other's city so we can hang out together again and you get away from those stupid A and B, but especially B!!! Some good news - Erica said we might go to IBRO cos there are some symposia there that look interesting and relevent! But the rego costs might still be a bit of a problem.

I hope you have an awesomely successful conference in NZ, and that you find a lab that has a technique you want to use that's located in Melbourne so you can relocate back here!!! YAY!!! Seriously, use your networking skills to get back here.

Lots of (non-lesbian) love,
Miss Mally

Another weekend roundup!

I've had a full weekend this week. After last week's debacle, I decided not to drink....much.

On Friday, I had managed to stick to my resolution. Despite the free booze at afterworks drinks, I managed to meet Li-Hsia and Mondz for dinner at Hairy Canary completely devoid of alcohol in my system. One plate of tagliatelle (Li), risotto (Mondz) and lamb pizza (for me) later, we headed down to Bourke St. where we checked out a new shop dedicated completely to asian dvds! If you think about it, its surprising that no one thought to fill up that giant hole in the market before! And being a store full of asian products, engrish was present - I was much amused to find the box set of Jet Li's *Classil* films. We three then went down to the concert hall to listen to a performance of Shostakovich's Symphony number 7. It was highly enjoyable...although I must confess that I did fall asleep a little bit in the first movement. *blush* We then met up with Ian, Shan, and Franco in Wing Loong for supper before heading out to Section 8 for some drinks. I realised that I'd have to take the midnight bus to get home, but fortuitously found that my brother was still around and scummed a lift home from him, arriving home at 1am.

Unfortch, I had to be at uni by 10am for a killer 3 hour session on the con-focal. I was already feeling pretty crap but my mood was improved by the *flawless* reverse park I did on Barry st. If only there were someone there to witness it *sigh*. The only highlights of the confocal session are that I've now got some data to post here soon and that I managed to turn the place into my own personal disco as since there was no one around, I could pump mp3s at full blast! Beautiful Carmencita and I then met up for a frenzied shopping session to find her a dress for a ball next Friday. I am pleased to announce that we were successful and she's wearing a sexy silver leopard print dress!

Saturday night...geez, it was like one of the benders of old! After pushing Lydia to stop procrastinating, we headed out Fed Sq. and Time Out where I sunk a frangelico, lime & soda while we waited for Turdy, Ash, and Marlene (drink count - 1). After everyone arrived, we headed into Transport where we, INCLUDING 29-yo Turdy - who might I say looked mighty hot and not her usual casual self - were asked to show our ID. With an average age of 24...the incident was highly amusing. Here I sunk 2 gin and tonics (drink count 3). We then moved back to Time Out to wait for Marina & her friend Heather. We all had some cocktails here, although we were amazed to hear the waitress tell Ash that they had run out of mint and would he like his mojito without mint. Mojito without mint?! That's just rum and lime! I had a lotus...some kind of champagne cocktail - quite strong (drink count 4). Since we were on that end of the city and Marlene wanted to dance, we hied over to Bambu where no one was dancing, but we managed to snag a good amount of couch area and I managed to down a f,l & s and a couple of vodka crans (drink count 7). According to Turdy, some guy was checking out my fishnet and booted legs...but I didn't see him and he didn't make himself known to me so he couldn't be marked off on the list of things to make a night almost complete - getting hit on by a stranger. This problem was solved at the next location, and last for me and Lydia, Apartment. Some weirdo tried the old "So, where are you from?" line, to which I succinctly replied, "Melbourne." He then tried a different tack, "So, where are your parents from?" only to receive "Melbourne"...and then Lydia and Marlene made me change seats. To make the night complete, me and Lydia then got souvlakis at 2am from Stalactites - that's gold!

All that drinking really screwed us over come Sunday morning. We had to be at various places pretty early. I attended a bbq where I had to keep my sunglasses on due to the bright sun and the dark circles around my eyes. I then went back to uni for Open Day where I just kinda sat around with Fowler and Poole and we deflected questions onto other ppl. And now I've just come back from picking up my sister from the airport.

A full weekend!

The Roland Mouret Galaxy Dress

If you've spoken to me about fashion within the last year, you may have heard me wax on about Roland Mouret's Galaxy Dress (pictured). The thing about it's name is that due to the cut and the bodice being boned and lined with fabric that was previously used in girdles, the dress gives the wearer a nipped-waist hourglass figure - flattering a *galaxy* of female body types. Of course, the model wearing the dress is here is Carmen Kass...the kind of gal who could wear a potato sack and still look good in it.

Retailing at 800 pounds, the design was naturally soon pirated and soon appeared in a number of shops in varying colours and level of quality. So, how do the knock-offs stand up compared to the original and do they produce the same result? Pictured below is me wearing an $85
knock-off which didn't have lining, although it is made of an elasticised fabric.Overall, I would say that I'm somewhat satisfied with the dress, and even though it didn't turn me into Carmen Kass, some people did give me a double-take when I wore it around uni.

Feel free to post comments! I've changed the settings so anyone can post now.

Pilates without Glen

You may recall that I've complained about my pilates instructor, Glen, several times. Perhaps the most notable time was this entry here. But you know, I've been attending these classes almost weekly for about 6 months now...I'm kinda used to his drill sargent tactics of shaming everyone into doing the right thing. I mean, if you take me as an example, I may not have shifted that layer of fat on my gut, but when I tense them, those abs of mine are like a rock! *snicker*

Anyway, the degree to which I have been indoctrinated by Glen became horridly apparent today when Ange (who takes the Fitball class before us) had to fill in as instructor for whatever reason. Ange is a nice woman and her teaching methods are more relaxed. Instead of barking at us, she tells us when to breathe, how to do the exercise etc. She also plays relaxing kinda new-age music in the background and gently adjusts us with her hands when we get the exercise wrong - i.e. NO KICKING. And while she was marvelling at what a great class we were and exclaiming over our wonderful technique...I was lying there thinking *This isn't right, it's not the same without someone barking at you!*

There I was, with an instructor who I was the type I was expecting when I started, and I felt totally dissatisfied with her teaching technique, thinking that the use of music was kinda silly, and knowing that it was Glen's indiscriminate use of fear tactics that had changed us from soft, squishy everypeople to the obediently tensing drones we had become. Kinda like in Full Metal Jacket without all the guns or the swearing.

But I think he's back next week so I better practise my 100's and leg extensions.

Omg, I'm sneezing like all get out and I hope its hayfever and not a cold/flu. I know we're still in the throes of Winter...but its been warmer than usual and windy as hell. There's lots of crap flying around in the air.

*sigh* Better get some antihistamines

Only in Japan...

The Paris Hilton Hello Kitty edition?

http://www.tmz.com/2006/08/07/only-in-japan-hello-hilton

WHY?! WHY?! WHY?! The only logical reason I can think of that may explain this is that, due to the language barrier, the people who think these things up for Sanrio don't realise that Paris Hilton is a skanky oxygen thief. Think about it - you can't speak english, but when you look at english-language media, it's covered with images of this blonde....thing. You could possibly come to the conclusion that she must be an important person and, you know....*cough*.

On the other hand, Gallery of the Absurd has come up with this - and it is soooo true!!!

*sigh*

I've been meaning to post this video since I discovered it sometime either last year or early this year.

*sigh*
Okay here's the challenge... I will date ANYONE who sings the song to me in person. And I'll consider enslavement...er, sorry, marriage if it's done with a bunch of roses! :P
hehehhe

Rundowns

Haven't been at home or desk to post anything, so here are some run downs of each day.

Thurday - Uni as usual. Finished some S100beta/IB4 and EAAT4/IB4 immunos on some Ren2 control and STZ tissue. The S100b one seemed ok, but the EAAT4...looked like there was no staining. Either the antibody has somehow degraded...but I suspect that I may have actually forgotten to put the antibody in *blush*. Pilates with Glen was shocking - he actually told me I was good when we were doing rolldowns! GOOD!!! Like...wtf?!!?!? Actually, come to think of it, he hasn't stepped on me in a while. I also spent a frustrating two hours on the deconvolution...but yeah. The less said about that the better. The day was finished off with my first act as La Presidente - we had a DVD night. We watched Kill Bill 1 and Batman Begins. Fun for all

Friday - Uni as usual, followed by drinking. I think I'm going to try and stop drinking. No, really. I ended up with something like 7.5 glasses of wine and dying before midnight. I didn't black out or vomit, but it wasn't nice and I may have lost some coherence.

Saturday - After waking up at 4am thinking that I had uni (yep the alcohol really !#@$% me over), I slept in until 11am. I ventured to uni to get some stuff and promptly nearly got hit by a car that almost didn't stop at the Grattan St. traffic lights. You know which ones I'm talking about.

That is all.

Drama alert!!!

I should have been more careful for what I wished for - I just got some bad drama.

SOME OF MY TEACHING DUTIES HAVE BEEN CUT BACK DUE TO TIMETABLING AND BUDGETARY PRESSURES!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*sigh*

Calling for new drama!

Everything seems to be falling into a routine now. I go into uni everyday and do specific things and then depending on the day, I either go to the gym, go home, or go drinking. It's getting quite boring, really.

It's probably wrong of me to wish for some drama in my life, but I wish there would be some. Good drama, no bad stuff. Good drama would include...

Males - nice ones, no assholes
Money - increased income, less debt
My work to produce an awesome, undisputed breakthrough
Mastery of a difficult technique
Mastery of a difficult recipe
The sudden discovery of my latent superpowers
The complete and utter crushing of my enemies (not that I have any *cough*)

Ah well. I can keep wishin' and hopin'.
Toodles!

The Need For Speed (and shucking of chickenshit tendencies)

I had an interesting day yesterday whereby I did a number of things I normally would not. Firstly...well, despite being a Saturday, I was home all day! No parties, no shopping, nada. And then because I was home, I ended up watching Dr. Who which I surprisingly found quite entertaining. I also dismantled a computer by myself (!!!) and removed the CD ROM, before driving to the airport to pick up Luthersmee and Poosy.

We went back to Luthersmee's place for him to extract the motor from the CD ROM (which I also helped in) and for me to kill time. I killed time by watching some episodes of Little Britain and, more interestingly, Top Gear. For those who don't know what that is or are too lazy to click on the link, Top Gear is a BBC2 programme about cars. Generally, I don't care too much for cars so long as they get me from A to B in a comfortable manner. However, the demands of Monday Gymday often results in me eating dinner alone with Top Gear as company and so I have started to appreciate cars and, more ominously, driving.

The episode that Luthersmee set up for me to watch hasn't aired here yet, but it was the one where Jackie Stewart attempted to help presenter James May cut his lap time around a circuit by 20 seconds. And so, I sat and watched and absorbed Jackie's advice about driving, how to drive fast, when to brake, when to accelerate, how to take corners etc. At 1:30am, I had to go home but when confronted by that beautiful stretch of clear road that stretched from Luthersmee's to my place, a road I know has been used for racing in the past...suddenly all I heard in my head were Jackie's scottish accent barking commands at me. At some point I realised I was driving 30kmh over the limit in a suburban area. But shocked as I am now when I read that last line, I remember that brilliant thrilling feeling I had last night as I overtook all those cars. Perhaps I'll start enjoying driving more now.

I just hope there weren't any speeding cameras *gulp*.

duh...yup yup!!

I don't normally consider myself naïve. I'd say you could shoot all manner of double entendres towards me and 90% of the time I'd figure it out straight away. This is probably due to my innate sense of mischief (peanut butter!!!) and love of word plays. I may have to reconsider my mindset because last night someone made an observation to me about whether clean-shaven or stubbly men are better. I took her comment and laughter at face value and made a return observation of my own to her. It wasn't until today that I actually understood what she was getting at...and while I'm pretty sure that my comment doesn't paint me as a pervert...I hope she realises I didn't get what she was getting at!

I've sucked ppl in and they've told me to do this one

Your Personality Is Like Acid

A bit wacky, you're very difficult to predict.
One moment you're in your own little happy universe...
And the next, you're on a bad trip to your own personal hell!

You Are 28 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

You Have a Choleric Temperament

You are a person of great enthusiasm - easily excited by many things.
Unsatisfied by the ordinary, you are reaching for an epic, extraordinary life.
You want the best. The best life. The best love. The best reputation.

You posses a sharp and keen intellect. Your mind is your primary weapon.
Strong willed, nothing can keep you down. Your energy can break down any wall.
You're an instantly passionate person - and this passion gives you an intoxicating power over others.

At your worst, you are a narcissist. Full of yourself and even proud of your faults.
Stubborn and opinionated, you know what you think is right. End of discussion.
A bit of a misanthrope, you often see others as weak, ignorant, and inferior.

OH NO!!!

I take pride in my cakes (that is not a euphemism for anything).
I went home early today so I could bake my apple cake for the dinner party Erica is throwing for the lab.

BUT OH NO!!!

In my rush to get it done and make myself lunch at the same time, I accidentally set the oven to *grill top fan-forced* rather than plain old *fan forced*!!! Now the top is burnt and I don't have time to go make another one!!

Well, I suppose there is time to make another one if I start now...but I can't! :'(

Movie Review - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

First the good news - it's not as bad as some reviewers have made out! Now the bad - it's not as good as the first one.

The basic plot is that Captain Jack Sparrow owes a debt of 100 years of service on Davy Jones' ship, The Flying Dutchman. Naturally, he's trying to weasel out of it and begins searching for the Dead Man's Chest which holds Davy Jones' heart - destroy the heart, kill Davy Jones, no more debt. But Jack's not the only one looking for it. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann have been coerced under the threat of death into finding the Chest for the East India Company - control the heart, control the seas, East India Company makes a crapload of cash. And so it's a competition of who can get what first - Davy trying to get Captain Jack/everyone else trying to get the heart/chest.

I'm not going to bother with my usual analysis of the plot or the acting because lets face it, this isn't really a movie where you can question if the plot has giant holes in it or whether the acting is top-notch. Having said that, POTC:DMC still reminds me of the Monkey Island games (Best. Games. Ever.) and of the actors, Johnny Depp is still amusing as Captain Jack, Orlando Bloom is still wooden as Will, Keira Knightley is still kinda annoying as Elizabeth, Bill Nighy is damn near unrecognisable underneath all those tentacles as Davy Jones, but the standout is Naomie Harris (who?!) as the Voodoo Lady. She rocks!

The feeling I had while watching this was somewhat akin to my feelings toward King Kong and Harry Potter 4. Like King Kong, POTC:DMC can be broken up into individual set-pieces to be marked off on a list - Jack's crazy escape - check! The big pirate brawl - check! The cannon fight - check! And of course, the most ridiculous fight ever in a giant water-wheel - check! Sure, the pieces were entertaining but at the same time, I kept thinking that the movie really needed to be edited down - it really did not need to clock in at 150 minutes. The running time contributed a great deal to the feeling I had while walking out. Like Harry Potter, I felt entertained but that there was a certain something lacking which stopped me from raving about it the way I did with the first. Oddly enough, I don't think it was the cliffhanger ending of the movie.

Ah, the ending. This has been a bone of contention with a few people I've spoken to, most notably John I.T. Support who declared "I didn't pay $15 to watch half a movie! If I knew it was gonna end like that, I would have only paid $7.50!" On one hand, I suppose he's right - the *conclusion* of the movie as an end to the installment is unsatisfying because you can't view POTC:DMC in its own right. It exists solely to set up the third and, I assume, final part. But on the other hand, I soooooooooo didn't see the twist coming that I really want to see how the ending pans out! I just hope that it is more like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and less like The Godfather III or Matrix Revolutions.

Overall, I'd say POTC:DMC is an enjoyable movie, but there are enough flaws in it that I can't give it the stellar review I want to give it.
6-7/10

You can do better!

I always find it amusing when I hear this comment in relation to boys. It often seems to be given to girls who have great looks, personality, intelligence and jobs...and her guy is given inferior ratings in about three of those categories (hi Amandine!). Possibly my favourite instance would be in the Simpsons episode where Lisa is in love with Nelson and Bart says it to her when he find outs. Never mind the fact that it is likely possible that the girl might be with/interested in the guy for reasons that cover up his flaws, e.g. he's quite charming or owns an Aston Martin DB9.

I myself received this comment last night from a friend, and you know what? I think she's right. But seeing as there is a general lack of better opposition...if you want me to do better, throw the *better* ones in my way and then everyone can be happy ;)

gee, i'm not looking good!

You Are 60% Evil

You are evil, but you haven't yet mastered the dark side.
Fear not though - you are on your way to world domination.

You Are: 50% Dog, 50% Cat

You are a nice blend of cat and dog.
You're playful but not too needy. And you're friendly but careful.
And while you have your moody moments, you're too happy to stay upset for long.

You Are More Mild Than Wild

You're confident, and you really aren't concerned with how "hot" you are.
Other people's ideas of what's sexy don't concern you. And this is exactly what makes you attractive.

Your Stripper Song Is

Closer by Nine Inch Nails

"You let me violate you, you let me desecrate you
You let me penetrate you, you let me complicate you
Help me I broke apart my insides, help me Ive got no
Soul to tell"

When you dance, it's a little scary - and a lot sexy.
