Construction going on along Church St.
The sculpture Double Check in Liberty Park. So realistic, that covered in dust and debris after 9/11, firemen tried to rescue him.
The flag of honour naming the people who died in the attacks.
Oh hey, the googlecar was outside as we were going in!
The new World Trade Centre - set to be the tallest building in NYC upon completion.
The memorial consists of a park, a museum (yet to be completed), and waterfalls set in the bases of the two towers.
Each fountain lists the names of all the people who died in the attacks, for example Fire Department Squad 288 listed here
At present, entry to the memorial is ticketed. I assume the fences will eventually be removed once construction in the vicinity is completed. I can imagine it as a great lunch place in the middle of the bustling city.
The Survivor Tree. This tree was located at the original World Trade Centre Plaza and survived the attacks.
The memorial is really nice and fitting. Perhaps it's the constant sound of running water, but the entire environment is also very peaceful - you can't hear the sounds of the city. Visit it if you can.
