British Museum & Polpo

Pooey and I wanted to go see the Pompeii exhibition at the British museum, but not being able to pre-book tickets, when we got there, they told us we could only go in at 5:30! Instead, we had a look around at some of the permanent collection before heading to Polpo for lunch.
Check out how sunny London was!!!

The ecstatic smile brought to my face just by standing near the Rosetta stone. I am such a nerd.

She's happier than I am

At Polpo, Pooey and selected five dishes to share, but were unsure if that was enough. I mean,  despite being defeated yesterday, we are generally a pair of walking stomachs. We asked the waiter if he thought we'ed ordered enough (Pooey telling him we were hungry), and he made a non-committed, "Yeah...maybe..." comment. We decided that we'd see how we go. It wasn't as though we were rushing to get anywhere.

Dish one and two - braised scallop pancetta and peas with the zucchini and rocket salad. We'd actually ordered the fennel salad but there didn't seem to be a reason to turn it back. Also, *thumbs up to bacon and seafood*

Next up! The piadina meatball smash with lamb meatballs. THIS WAS YARMY!!! But at the same time, kinda huge. When it came out we both said we'd expected it to be smaller.

Pooey likes it

By now we were kinda full, there was a lot of plant fibre and protein so far but then came dishes four and five!

Dish four - flank steak with porcini cream. Really struggling with the protein and ruccola content by now.

Dish five - veal liver with onions and sage. Oh Gott! It was delicious but I was nearly crying at being so full :(

Luckily there wasn't much for us to do for the next few hours. After confirming that we didn't win the theatre tickets for which we'd ditched Pompeii, Pooey went home to Smee and I hung out catching up with Liz, Angry Chris, and Munabuna, all that food making sure all the booze I drank didn't get me down.
