Bilbao - Day 3

With most of the shops closed, we decided to use Sunday as a more relaxing time to explore the cultural surrounds of Bilbao. A word to future visitors, book your ticket in advance and keep in mind that no photography is allowed indoors. Also, the gift shop is awesome.

Tourist posing!

Afterwards, we walked through a park and found an old friend to pose with:

Hanging out with Joe Green (Giuseppe Verdi was just his stage name)

And then we got ice cream from one of the many stalls littered around the city :D

With my dulce de leche flavour. Scrummy!

It started to lightly rain so we took a late lunch break for moar pintxos!
Here we have jamon and sardine, and TWO foie a la plancha pieces!

The foie a la plancha was so good we got moar along with a fish paste and hamburger piece each.

We then took the metro to Portugalete to see the Vizcaya bridge. I should also mention that it was the holiday of the Assumption so as we exited the station, we took a detour through a street market and bought huge chunks of vacuum sealed lamb and cheese to take back to Germs. It occurred to me that I could forgive the Muenchener No Trading on Sunday situation if there were street markets to make up for it.

Posing with the UNESCO heritage bridge

We then took a ride on the bridge to get to the other side, Getxo

And walked all the way along the promenade where we saw a bunch of massive mansions lining the shore. One was for sale and there was a small discussion as to whether I should pose as the daughter of a rich Chinese industrialist looking for summer house...

We had a dinner break (with Sangria!) and then walked around the bay to the location of where attended the party on Friday night, and met up with some more of Patri's friends for kalimotxo and dancing

The biggest cup of kalimotxo ever in one hand...

and Javi in the other

The crowd

Possibly the most *Spanish* way to end our trip, we were able to take the metro home because knowing that the native population are hard party-goers, it runs all night. Anyway, it was with a measure of horror that as I set the alarm to wake up for our flight back to Germany, my phone informed me that it was going to go off in 4 hours and 50 minutes!  A great holiday that I need another holiday to recover from!
